A retired lumber & construction materials broker, Dan is a lifelong rail enthusiast, joining the “Save the Narrow Gauge” volunteers and the Narrow Gauge Railroad Association in 1969. In 1970, after the states of Colorado and New Mexico bought the 64-mile of track that is now the C&TSRR, Dan participated in volunteer efforts to put the track back in operating condition. He participated in work sessions in Chama during the winter of 1970-1971 and helped convert boxcar 3339 to the prototype excursion car 200. From 1972 to 1974, he was employed as a consultant to the Joint Executive Committee of the Colorado and New Mexico Railroad Authorities, a position now known as the Executive Director of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad Commission. Dan is a founding member of the FRIENDS of the C&TSRR and has attended numerous commission meetings, FRIENDS Board Meetings and work sessions. He was a member of the 0579 team and is currently serving as team leader for the 34’ foot stock car #5995. His knowledge, experience and enthusiasm have proven to be a great asset to the FRIENDS Board of Directors.
