BOB ROSS. Bob lives in Carmel, Indiana and maintains a home in Chama, NM. He is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, served as a Commissioned Officer in the U. S. Navy, and retired from 31 years with Union Carbide Corporation where he held various responsibilities including Vice President of Marketing. He first rode the D&RGW while serving as a camp counselor out of Thoreau, New Mexico in the l950’s and became fascinated with the history of slim rails in the mountains. He is blessed with a tolerant wife who has spent many a "vacation" chasing steam trains and walking fabled grounds such as Rico, Red Mountain Town and pre-C&TS Chama. Following his retirement, Bob and his wife began volunteering with the Friends. Since then, he has served on the Advisory Board and acted as a volunteer tour guide for the Historic Carnton Plantation, a national historic site in Franklin, Tennessee, an important Civil War landmark. He believes much of our heritage and historic ground has disappeared due to development or neglect. And this is regrettable because it leads to the loss of the nation’s cultural horizon. Our 64-mile window on 1880's narrow gauge railroading must be preserved. He is committed to continue assisting in this effort. He is presently the Vice President of Development.
